Hello everybody:

Faithfully I log in every morning to get my daily dose of FML. It is great
to read about so many fun and some sad experiences with ferrets. And to
imagine that until recently I thought that there were not so many ferret
lovers.

Today I am writing just to share a little about my baby. Princess is her name,
and ruling is her game! I adopted her when her former owner who thought
she was a he had to give her away.

From day one she was very friendly. She knows when we arrive home she
identifies our car noise on the street and waits like a little dog, flat on
the kitchen floor. We pick her up and she gives us little kisses . When we
are not home, she stays only on the kitchen area. But when we are in, she is
on the loose! (You better hide your
sandals, or she will do it for you.)

She never cared much for ferret toys. Her favorite playthings are people.
Princess loves to play with us. She will entice us to chase her around the
house. She runs ahead, and every so often, turns a very fast complete circle
to see if you are really after her! She repeats that throughout the chase.

She also loves to run up and down the stairs. She looks like a slinky
(those metal/plastic toy spirals), flowing up and down the steps. She also
makes a lot of noises we call them chipmunk noises . Recently she learned
a new one. When we hold her to clip her nails, she now cries softly like a
puppy. She is not being hurt or
anything we don t even have to touch her nails. She just doesn t like it,
and she found out that by making that noise we will let her go back to play!

Whenever she wants something and that is almost always she lays flat on
her back, with her little hands on her belly, staring at us. If we just
ignore her, she will move closer and repeat the posing. If we still ignore
her, she then does the same thing, but with her head resting on top of our
feet! Now we can t move and must comply with her demands for attention!

Her morning game is to help make the bed. She helps me by attacking the
pillows, the sheets, and everything else that is moving at that moment. She
jumps high in the bed, twisting in midair! She gets so frantic that sometimes
she falls from the bed. But never fear; she jumps back up and continues
right from where she was before. In the evening, she tunnels under the
sheets. The bed ends up looking like soil that has been traveled by moles!

Now I remember two things that I would like to ask. Ferrets have that faint
characteristic musk smell. Princess has absolutely no odor on her belly.
Although she is my second ferret, I don t remember if my first one was like
that or not. Is there an explanation for this?

Second, I read here mentions of a food called Totally Ferret . Is it good?
Where can I find it? Princess is very capricious about what she eats. She
ONLY eats Fancy Feast Flaked Salmon (before was Shrimp and Crab on
Jelly ), and the dried Alpo Seafood Feast (has Garfield on the box).
Although her coat, whiskers, teeth and nails are very healthy and strong, I
would like to try something else, with a little more protein.

Although I don t have much free time, I would like to help those fighting to
legalize ferrets on their communities. We can always write to government
officials, design fliers and things like that. It is very important that we
remove these archaic veils of ignorance from over their thick heads. Good
luck to us all.
