In a Medline search of colloidal silver (excluding its use as a
histological stain) from 1966-1998, I only found these types of articles
with some listed websites. Unfortunately, there was nothing to do with
ferrets, although some might comment that weasels sold the products -
insult to weasels if you ask me. Let the buyer beware.

Colloidal Silver Proteins Marketed as Health Supplements

Fung, Man C. MD; Weintraub, Michael MD; Bowen, Debra L. MD
Food and Drug Administration, Rockville, Md

Basically a referenced (see below) letter to the Editor stating that
colloidal silver proteins are being touted as a panacea by various
companies out to make a nice profit. That there has been no proven
efficacy for a variety of medical claims and that as a germicidal it has
been chiefly replaced. That silver is not an essential mineral supplement
and it has no known physiologic function, but that there are known
toxicities, including argyria, neurologic deficits, silver deposition in
visceral organs, etc.
