Ferret biting

I have just gotten a ferret recently from the Ferret Fanciers of Greater
Milwaukee.  Her name is Phantom.  She doesn't seem to have a problem with
bare toes but if someone walks in with socks on and walks by her or bugs her
she will try and bite.  Is there some way to prevent this.
