Read a posting yesterday about Richard and Debra and their king-sized
water bed. I too have a water bed but alas it is only a queenie. When we
renovated our bedroom by removing all the carpeting and laying down tile,
we had to tear down and then reassemble our beloved bubble bed. When we
reassembled it we took into consideration that our little fuzzies love that
"dead" space as well and ended up making some modification to make us both
happy. I like the thought that they have a place that is dark and "secret"
and didn't want to take it away from them. So, we cut down the sides near
the top where the headboard sits. We set up the bed so it sat approximately
8" from the wall in the under part and just close enough for us to get an
arm through. I then rolled up paper and stuffed it in making a nice puffy
area that conducts and holds the heat well. Because I built up the area
with paper, the height alone makes it easy to reach in and grab a fert if
we need to. I don't panic because I can reach them now and they're happy
because they get to keep their secret sleeping spot.
