Well, for those who watch the weather channel, you now know where Annandale,
VA is.....

We had a twister fly by Monday evening... John and I had just been to the
vet's to pick up three adrenal ferrets and one recheck, stopped by the STAR*
PO Box to pick up the mail, and raced home to beat the rain. Didn't make
it. A tree came down four cars ahead of us (less than a mile from the
house), so we drove through a neighborhood to get around it, got to within
two streets of our house, drove around downed trees and under power wires,
then dodged a branch blowing on our street. We pulled to the street end of
our driveway and sat inside the car and watched Mother Nature take the tops
out of three of our four maples. When the rain let up, we raced into the
house - no power - and found the neighbor's tree in our backyard.

Electricity was restored about 8 am this morning. John and I took off from
work to cut what tree branches we could from the roof and yard. Our street
was roped off as well as the street leading into our "subdivision". I took
pictures of EVERYTHING! We are again fully operational, I just have to
rethink giving directions to my house since the road is still closed - I did
take in two ferrets today and will be picking up one after work tomorrow.
Our house is ideal for storm proof safety for the animals - had I been in
the house I would have been in the basement with them! As it was, we parked
the van between two cedar trees, and only lightening could have taken those
trees down!

Anyone know of a good tree trimming company in the Northern VA area?
