louis and I adopted a beautifull ferret from the WSFA shelter run by Liane
beckwith. Humphrey came to her a short while back, she had no history on
him other than he was obviously in need of adrenal surgery, which she had
done for him. She spent alot of time nursing him back to health, and then
Charleen took over for about a week. When "Hump" came to us, he still
needed to be force fed. The first night I had him, I attempted to feed him
and he VIOLENTY refused, I chalked it up to new surroundings and did not
push the issue. He did drink lots of water out of the bowl, he seems to
prefer that to a water bottle. The next morning I had the same battle on
my hands, I had to figure out what this guy would eat willingly, because I
did not want to stress him out any further. THOUGH, he willingly eats
cheerios like there is no tomorrow, I can't oblige him.

I came home from work yesterday and noticed he picked up a peice of food
and ate it, I was so excited, I callled anyone who would care that Humphrey
ate one peice of food. I made several piles of different kids of food to
see what his preferance was.

Last night he was eating out of the cats tray of food. And during the
middle of the night I heard him crunching away in my room..he was eating
ferret food..YIPPPPPPPPEEEEEE, this morning again he was eating the cats
food, so I slipped some L'Avian ferret food in with it, he ate for aboout
20 minutes. He does not like to eat out of a bowl, he likes to pick it up
off the floor. I think "Hump' is going to be just fine, he and Phoebe get
along great, they are tent mates and they keep each other warm. Thank you
Liane and Charleen for letting me take this sweet boy. He was well
received by the others, though Oliver is just to rough, that I cant allow
him to be around humphrey. As I said to you guys at the meeting on sunday,
at next years ferret games this gu will be kicking butt and taking names!!
