My ferret Rocky has had an eye problem for about 2 months now. His right
eye, at his tear gland, is very swollen...enough to where it's pushing his
eye out.

The vet first diagnosed it has an infection so he gave us some anti-biotic
eye drops and some steroidal eye drops for the swelling. We did that for
him for about 2 weeks. It helped some but didn't clear it up. We took him
back to the vet and he didn't really know what else to do, so he sent us to
an animal eye specialist. The doctor there did a quick examination and
seems to think that there is something behind the eye pushing it out so she
ordered x-rays. They reveal nothing and our next step is exploratory.

So, before we get the exploratory done, I'd like to find out if anyone else
has had a problem like this. Does anyone have a thought as to what it
could be?

Oh yeah, I've also noticed that when he scratches, he grunts (or moans). I
don't know how else to describe it. I don't know if this would be related
or not. However, he's just fine otherwise. He's eating and drinking fine
and he's also just as active as he's ever been. He's 5 years old.

Thanks in advance!
