Although the article does not mention ferrets or bears those two types
of animals -- like otters -- can get but so far can not transmit
Toxoplasma (continuing apologies to Karen P for my getting something
wrong on that score in relation to bears n PA years back when she
spoke). See past FHL posts on this in the separate FHL archives and FML
Archives. (The URL of each is in my sig lines, and the FML Archives URL
is always in the FML's header, while the FHL Archives can be linked to
from multiple places on the FHL homepage.) Of course, all the species
mentioned can also get it from cat feces directly. (BTW, the actress,
Betty White, paid in full for a study on sea otters in the past through
the Morris Animal Foundation to better understand this; I do not know
if she paid for this one, too, but it would not surprise me. She does
good in this world.)

Many thanks to Meryl who introduced me to ProMed as a resource!
