Hello,

Some petstores have a policy on being able to return pets to the store. I
have to question some things. A pet that is bought back because his poopy
smells strong. Or he has a little loose stools. Pet that is bought back
because he nips a little. A behavior that I feel if not vicious can be
taught not to. Each kit or ferret I believe has its own personality.
Some are very gentle some are not. Some more aggressive some are not.
Brings to an issue of what someone expects the perfect ferret to be. Do
you keep taking back a kit after a couple of days because it is not what
you considered the perfect pet. What are the risks? We took back a
ferret about a week ago because the customer felt it's stool was to strong
because it smelt different from the other. Then the next one the nipped a
little. I have issues with pets coming back into a petstore because they
have been accepted into a family and feels what it's like to have people
love them. When they come back I feel sorry for the pet. It is not
getting what attention it is use to. I know they can adapt. But, every
pet I have taken in no matter if it nipped bad or appeared different it
was accepted. Educating on what is expected and what can be taught to a
ferret as good behavior or bad. When ferrets do certain things it's what
a ferret will do.

Looking for the perfect ferret is not acceptable in my book when there is a
continuous exchange. If a pet contacts something in another environment.
As yes I separated that kit for a couple days. It could bring in a disease
that transmitts to the others. Buyers beware.

Personally, I am already stressing about the ways pets are at a petstore.
How they can't run and play and extend their play to exhaustion. What can
I do? At least on my shift I can ensure they have everything clean water,
food, and corners pooped.

This is all my opinion based on what I have experienced working in a
petstore.
