I can't begin to imagine how many times you shelter parents hear that
same old story. I wish I was poet and could write something clever, but
it would probably sound more like Vogon poetry. I'm not a story teller
either, but here goes.

Many here may remember the story of Kim in Florida, how 11 of her 12
ferrets were stolen from her almost a year ago. She was left with one
precious baby that she couldn't keep, because he would come back and
take her as well. Chloe was put into witness protection. Now Kim could
have signed the papers and walked away, but she didn't. Kim could have
simply faded away over time, but she hasn't. Kim still doesn't have
a job, things are hard but she contributes when she can. She still
visits, she calls every few days, she asks about Chloe and the other
kids. Chloe has adrenal disease, Lupron isn't helping anymore. We
all know a shelter isn't going to let any ferret go without further
treatment, but Kim is taking responsibility for her girl. She is
raising money, others are helping her. It's amazing the support she
has received, for which I know she is truly grateful. Heck, shelter
mom is grateful. I know things are going to get better for Kim, and
she is still going to be there, not just for Chloe but for all the
other nieces and nephews she got when she stood at that door, made a
promise and kept it.
