I'm replying to the bug problems in General here.  My sympathies with those
of you who have been invaded by these little nasties.  The idea of insect
poison is a tough one.  Sometimes the fumes alone can be dangerous.  I can
give you one alternative suggestion, but you have to be on special guard
while you do it.
 
Mix 1 cup of sugar to 2 cups of Borax.  You can find Borax in your local
grocers laundry section.  It is usually on the bottom shelf and does not
stick out too much.
 
I mix these two ingredients, and while wearing plastic gloves leave piles
(3 tablespoons) around the house on linoleum or wood floors.
 
I especially put some in the cupboard under my sink as it is moist there
and lots of bugs like damp and moist.  The bugs will ingest the mixture
because of the sugar.  They will take it back to their little nest because
the Borax does not kill them immediately.  Once back at the nest all of the
members share the food and they will all die.  It takes probably a week,
BUT, it is final and effective.
 
The biggest problem here is that you cannot let your fuzzies free roam
during that time.  Ferrets are also attracted to the bait and will eat it.
When letting your fuzzbutt out for play time, take them into a room and
play with them under strict supervision!!
 
If you feel that you can keep an eye on your babies, keep them out of the
bait, your bug problem will be gone.  However, if you feel that you may not
be able to keep your ferret away from the bait for any reason, I do not
suggest this method.
 
There have been folks who boarded their fuzzy, bombed the house, washed the
house out, and then let their fuzzy come home to a bug free environment.
