Hello everyone,

It has been a long time since I have written and I imagine this will be my
last posting. My ferret, Jitterbug, is very sick and I don't think she
will make it through the weekend. She has been adrenal for about 2 years,
but always seemed happy and active. A couple of days ago her vulva shrunk
a lot and I thought maybe she was going into remission. But then I noticed
she was having a lot of difficulty walking. She appears to be dragging her
back two legs and she has a lot of diareeah. I took her to the vet and 10
minutes and $118 later, he still had no idea what was wrong with her. He
did rule out insulnoma, but thats about it. I am currently unemployed and
not in a position to continue veterinary care so I have been hand feeding
her duck soup and trying to keep her comfortable. She is the sweetest
ferret I have ever owned, but she is also over 6 years old (I am her
second owner so I am not sure of her exact age) and as I said my financial
position is very bad to put it lightly. I am out of solutions and am just
waiting and watching her die. If I knew of a shelter that would take her
in I would take her there, but I fear that it wouldn't do any good given
her age and the apparent severity of her illness. I have thought about
putting her down, but I can't bear to end her life early and I think it
would be better if she died at home.

I am an emotional wreck right now and am thinking that I should find a new
home for my other ferret, Monkey. She is much younger (3 years), very
healthy and very beautiful. I think she will be too lonely without
Jitterbug so I want to give her to someone who has other ferrets. Given
my finances I cannot get another one myself and I think Monkey should be
with someone who can take care of her properly if she were to ever get ill.
As I said she is VERY healthy now, but I feel so terrible about what is
happening to Jitterbug and I don't anything like that to happen to Monkey.
So ... free to a good home that is FINANCIALLY STABLE and has at least one
other ferret for her to play with, a beautiful 3 year old sable ferret
named Monkey. Very strong, very mischevious. I live in Los Angeles
California and can be contacted via my e-mail address. [log in to unmask]
I will not be reading the FML anymore so please contact me directly if you
are interested in taking Monkey.

Depressed in Los Angeles,
Rebecca
