Can anyone tell me if it is possible to transmit ECE to any other animals
besides ferrets? I am particularly concerned about kangaroos. My mom
raises wallabies, and after a visit from me, her youngest joey came down
with diarrhea. It could just be a coincidence. Wallabies can get diarrhea
easily, but it's been almost a week now, and I am concerned. I'm trying
not to feel guilty, and I imagine Mom is trying not to blame me. I'd like
to be able to tell her it doesn't transmit, but who would know for sure?
Is there anyone out there who has contact with ferrets exposed to ECE and
kangaroos or wallabies (or maybe even opossums, since they're distantly
related to roos) ? Please email me, if you know.

Also, I am sad to say I finally found the cure for ferret math. It is
three dreadful initials: ECE. I know that even if I wait years, any new
ferret I bring into my home may come down with this and it is awful. Even
though I'm not 100% positive this is what my ferrets have, it certainly
fits the description, and it is not worth taking a chance. Since my
ferrets have been sick, I have been offered three new kids, and I've had to
turn them down. I guess in a way, that's good. I probably shouldn't get
any more ferrets right now. But it's a sad way to overcome ferret math.

The Franklin County Humane Society in Missouri offered me two of the
ferrets. I don't know if they are still there or any other information.
When I told them my ferrets were sick, they got off the phone real fast.
If anyone is interested, I can see if they are still available. They just
called a couple days ago, so the ferrets may still be there.
