Hi all,
 
We acquired a new one year old off white male ferret yesterday, the
previous owner (a 12 year old girl) was feeding him table scraps and once
in a while some cat food (adult/generic).  He is very thin and underweight.
That's not a problem as the last two we got came in the same state and they
are now doing fine.
 
That puts us at 6 ferrets, (in order of seniority), George, Cinders, Lick,
Sassy, Trixe, and now Silver.
 
Wish us Luck getting him fat again.  And there is one major difference on
this ferret.  He is an intact male (unspayed).  Is there anything we have
to do special for him?  (Health wise)?
 
He was known to be aggressive over food (his last cage mate died of
malnutrition, but do you blame the guy given what he was being feed?).  He
showed some signs of being hostile at very first, but has become a great
lap ferret in just a few hours.  It will be a couple of days before we let
the kids handle him, and a few weeks before we put in him in a cage with
any of the rest of our ferret (two weeks enough for a quarantine?) But we
have handle problem ferrets before, Silver should be just fine.  Of the 6
he is the only one calm enough to fall asleep in your lap.  The rest want
to play way too much.

BTW: what Should a intact male about 1 year old weigh?  Does it depend on
length?  I can measure him, but not weigh him at this time.  I am planning
to find a scale to use so we can mark his progress.
