It should also be noted that there are some decent free heart rate apps
available for Android that use the phone's camera.

They may not work as well as AliveCor but they may suffice for someone
on a budget.

I use one called "Instant Heart Rate" and it works very well. There are
probably some available for iPhones too.

Because they use the camera to read the pulse, it may not work on paws.
If anybody has a shaved ferret, maybe they could give some of these a
try and report the results here?
