Rescuing Ferrets on Monday.

I received a phone call asking if I could take in a number of young
polecat coloured kits. The poor little things had been left in a garden
centre in Cheshire area while the young lady popped into the supermarket
to get some cigarettes and she just didn't bother going back for them.
So as I did not go to the Peterbrough show this week end, I felt that by
visiting some friends in the area I could also solve the shop owners
problem and I now have some very small kits aged about four or five weeks
old, very tiny, very unsure of them selves and very hungry.

The first thing I did when I got back to Shropshire was to drop in at my
vets home so that Mark could take a look at them, he gave them the once
over, treated them for fleas and an ear infestation. I am keeping them
indoors until the ear and flea problems have been resolved, then they
will go and live with some of my whole hob's, until I can find new
homes for some of them and two will be staying here so I can have more
vasectomy done next year, that way they can have females for the rest of
his life.

Mark was not very impressed about their condition and the fact that the
owner had been totally irresponsible by leaving them with some one who
did not have the slightest knowledge about ferrets.

The shop owner said he had got my phone number from the Internet but he
did not realises that I was so far away, so all I said was that I was
willing to help anyone out were animals are concerned. Mind you he did
offer to pay my petrol cost and we came to an arrangement over that.

I have just been talking to some gay friends on the Internet a few
minutes ago and I think I might have found homes for most of the hobs,
so when I think they are 12 weeks old the new owners will be having one
of my hobs for a couple of days before they take the kits homes and what
I can not find homes for may as well stay here.

Mark said if I have all the hobs vasectomised next year in one batch he
will just charge me for anaesthetic so that they and that jills they live
with can live as naturale a life as possible without producing kittens.
Not bad getting vasectomies done for #UK5 per ferret, I only wish more
vets would do it.

What I would not give just to have a few minutes with the breeder, I
think after me taking to her she would give up breeding ferrets. I know
I do not like having ferrets altered before they are both sexually and
mentally mature but if only she would have her hob vastectomised, that
would be the end of here problems.

Charity Commission

I phoned the Charity commission to day to find out some thing so that I
can put more about them on my webspawner web site below.

I asked what they thought about some one using "non registered charity"
at the end of their rescue address, according to the guy I was talking to
he said that any one with a rescue who is not registered with the charity
commission should just simply put "not registered" as the use of the word
"charity" is against the terms and conditions of the charity commission.

The guy said that the charity commission do prosecute any one for the
miss use of the word.
