Re travelling with ferrets on airlines: you could try what a friend of mine
told the airport staff. Barb had contacted the airline (sorry--can't
remember which one; was told this story a long time ago) and was told by the
office that she could bring her ferrets on board as long as they were in a
pet taxi. When she got to the airport, one of the staff demanded to know
what was in the pet taxi. Barb was a bit nervous that some officious idiot
might take it into his/her head to prevent her from boarding. So she told
him it was none of his business, it had been cleared with the airline
already. The guy persisted. Barb kept refusing. This went on until Barb,
losing her temper and afraid she would miss the flight, snapped, "Himalayan
fur snakes!" Long, baffled pause; then, "Oh! That's all right."

She made the flight with no further problem.

Mind you, I'm not advising travellers to try this at home (so to speak) but
it would be a fun goof--if for no other reason than the look on someone's
face. <G>
