Hi,

This is kind of off topic, so I hope BIG lets it go through..........This
does have some relevance to ferret people in MI since many ferret owners
are also animal rights advocates (or at least ferret rights advocates). I
am NOT trying to start a discussion on animal rights, just trying to let
those MI ferret people who might be interested know about this conference.

I got a flyer from the Michigan Federation of Humane Societies and Animal
Advocates about their 2000 Conference. I've been to these before and found
them interesting, informative, and nice for networking. The people that
attend are animal rights advocates, wildlife rehabbers, and others who care
and are concerned about animal issues. I don't know how much of a "ferret
person" presence will be here, but there should be one. The person who is
probably most intrumental in helping animals by legal Means (Wanda Nash
(founder of Attorneys for Animals, created Animal Law section of the Bar
Association) and others who may have an impact on ferrets in MI will be in
attendance.

The following is a bit of the info in the flyer. If you have any interest,
please let me know. I'd be happy to send you more info.

Date: Saturday, September 30
Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Place: Holiday Inn Lansing Conference Center (on W. Saginaw)

Danielle Bays (Humane Society of the United States). Presentation: "I'm
Not A Coat" (anti-fur).

the Bar Association). Presentation: Spiritual aspects of animal rights.

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society).

Also included is a vegan lunch.

Please let me know if you'd like more info on this event. It is a great
place to network!

Kim
