There are people who advocate eating earthworms as a proteine source for
people! (yuck)

Just as an aside, a young ferret (5-6 months old, unneutered, apparently
European blood) was found wandering the woods. He came up to some people
and was stealing and eating the earthworms they'd just dug up! Apparently,
ferrets *will* eat earthworms, especially if they're hungry. Being young
might have had something to do with it, too. [By the way, the ferret is in
our shelter, is extremely healthy and sweet temperment. He'll be neutered
in a month or so.]
