Well, this is definitely true. Our Squirt came down over Christmas vacation
with what I was *sure* (and panicked about!) was ECE. She was suddenly very
sick with vomiting and trademark icky, slimy green/yellow poop. I took a
"sample" to the vet, who took one look at it, said "That came from *this*
ferret?!" with an alarmed look, checked her out thoroughly and found no
other determinable cause for the problem, and sent us home with supportive
care instructions and antibiodics.

To make a long story short, it *couldn't* have been ECE, because none of our
other ferrets/her cagemates ever got sick! (We isolated her right away, but
if it had been ECE, the others would already have been infected, or at least
would surely be infected now.) When she still had lingering icky poops and
lethargy/loss of appetite two weeks later, she was put on more antibiodics.
She slowly recovered over the next month or so and is now completely back to
her old self, but *what* an ordeal. I can only imagine what we would've
gone through if it *had* been ECE.

What her illness was is still a mystery, made even more odd by the fact
that nobody else got it. I'm just glad she's ok now.
