I've noticed a lot of people mentioning how hard it is to find a landlord
who will allow ferrets in their buildings. I'm not sure what the laws are
anywhere else, but here in Ontario it is against the law to evict someone
for simply owning a pet, even when the lease states 'no pets'. It is only
legal when the pet is a constant nuisance to neighbors, i.e. barking at all
hours, left outside unleashed, displays of aggression, etc.

Since ferrets don't fall into these categories, I find it best to simply
not mention their existence until firmly moved into an apartment, then life
goes on.

It would be best to check the local Landlord and Tenant Act or talk to a
legal-aid before doing this in your area, the laws may be different.

Simply put, what they don't know won't hurt them.
