Pumpkin users can save some money and make their own pumpkin at a great
savings. I bought a huge Cinderella pumpkin at Trader Joe's. It weighs
22 pounds and cost $5.99. I will hack it up, bake it on two large sheet
pans, scrape out the meat and put that in a food processor. I did that
last year and made the most delicious pie I have ever had. The cooked
flesh is very smooth, pink-orangey, and has a wonderful sweet taste.
Pack it all in suitable small containers and freeze it or I suppose if
you are into it you could can it using a pressure canner. (No boiling
water bath for pumpkin.)

I figure to get about 15 pounds of clean pumpkin after discarding the
skin and seeds. (or roast and eat the seeds.)
