Last night, I fell asleep watching a movie on the couch. I woke up around
three in the morning because the couch is so uncomfortable. I couldn't
sleep. I could go upstairs, to my room, or in the basement, to a nice
couch.I figured it would take less energy to go down than up. I grabbed a
blanket and oozed my way downstairs. Ah, there it was - sleep at last. I
laid down and fell asleep instantly. The next morning, I awoke to the sound
of scratching very near me. There was also a close whimper or cry. I have
a small mutt named Rainbow and I knew it was her trying to get on the couch
(she is the only thing in my house that whimpers like that). I tried to
ignore her so she would let me sleep. Then I felt a wet nose against my
ear. I finally turned and saw Rainbow, about a foot away, watching Ferris
(my albino ferret) claw his way up the side of the couch. My first thought
was that someone had taken him out and put him next to me as a joke. I
looked around but noone was near. He must of gotten out of his cage and
found his way downstairs to me. This was lucky because we have a pretty big
house and we would have looked in the basement last. I was so glad to see
him. I brought him back upstairs to his cage and once it was closed, I put
his food can on top of it. Hopefully he wasn't strong enough to lift the
top now. Who knows?
