My big boy, Nakkevva, is also a tub licker.  He's been at it since I got him
about a year ago.  It is the first place he goes during play time and if Mom
is showering, all the better.  (A plot I'm sure - bathes have ceased as the
plug went missing.)
 
I figured it was just an odd quirk until I read the recent posts.  I guess
the tub just wasn't enough any more.  Last night when I came home from work
I found the wrapper from a fancy soap in their food dish.  To date the soap
is still at large.  I suspect it is with the tub-stopper.
