My husband and I have a follow-up definitions to the "can of worms":
 
THE THREE-HEADED HYDRA: When a can of worms wakes and all heads stare at you
at the same time.  The number of heads the hydra has can vary depending upon
the size of the can of worms.
 
A BAG OF SNAKES: A can of worms in a hammock.
 
-kim, squirt (peel me a raisin!), pippi (did somebody say raisin!!), atlas
 (who'd want to eat those little brown, lumpy things anyways?), and jinx
 (everbody but you, atlas!)
