I look forward to this special celebration every year. The ending of one
season and the beginning of another but to the children in our neighborhood
there is a much different meaning - a time to dress up in costume, visit
neighbors for treats and to see our ferrets. :-)

I placed plexi-glass across the doorway and left the door open. When the
children knock, I opened the storm screen door and the children and ferrets
could see each other.

Several of the ferrets would run to the door before I did. I was busy in
the kitchen fixing recipe and supper when the first children arrived.
Tweezle would go to the door at the knock and wait for me to hand out the
candy. He'd look up at me with his adorable triangular face as if to say
"that company wasn't for me?". After I'd hand out candy he'd climb in the
hammock with a few others, to await the next round of children.

One little boy innocently asked "where do you catch them". :-) it was
soooo cute. I giggled and said you don't catch them you buy them at a
pet store and his mom said "honey, they are just like cats and dogs".
One little girl got so very excited and yelled at her dad to come see the
ferrets, which he did. She reached right over the plexi-glass and patted
K.D. on the head. Of course K.D. was standing up to see who the visitor
was.

The ferrets and the kids enjoyed it. Me too.

Warm hugs to all. tle
