First, was there a relinquish form signed when the ferrets first came
into the Sanctuary? How was it set up - was it a temporary situation
or a permanent one? What does the ex-husband think? Have you gotten
feedback from him?

My gut feeling would be not to give her back the ferrets - usually (in
Wisconsin) possession is 9/10th of the law! Since ferrets are regarded
as property (in most states), whoever has possession is usually the
owner unless other stipulations have been stated in writing. Her track
record isn't that great either. If she really cared for the ferrets,
she would have at least contacted you more often and tried to see the
ferrets and also contribute to their care. Just MHO!
