Hi, Mindy from West Virginia here. I got a very disturbing phone call just
a few minutes ago regarding a female that is in heat. The lady who called
me wanted to know if any of my ferrets could be mated with her female.

All three of my males are neutered. I don't know of any whole ferrets here
in West Virginia. This person really upset me because I think she is trying
to breed ferrets for money, urrrrrr!

I told her the female would die if she didn't get her mated soon and that
it was very difficult to breed ferrets. The female had two babies - a son
and daughter that they had already breeded with another hob from the person
she bought the female from. She said they had the female's son neutered
recently and the vet told them he would be okay in about a month. She
bought the female from someone who did breed ferrets but stopped and she
couldn't get ahold of him.

Would the son be able to bring his mom out of heat? Is that OK? It sounds
awful. I told her the son might be able to do it. She really didn't give
me the impression that she would take the female to the vet. The female
has been in heat for about a week now.

I finally got into Pam Greene's home page and looked up some contacts in
West Virginia. WOW, I didn't know these people existed. I made a contact
with someone in Parkersburg who is trying to find a whole hob for me. He
also suggested I might contact the Humane Society if she doesn't take the
female to the vet for help.

I am going to try to offer this lady a deal - - give me the female and I
will have her fixed. That will leave the other female that is not fixed
with her also. I did my best to try and convince her that breeding ferrets
is very difficult. I am going to call her back but wanted input from my
FML buddies.

Thanks in advance!
