The cost as of last week for ferts at the pet stores was between $80 and
$90. No way stores here are buying them for $65 to $80. To verify this,
your best bet is to call Petco stores [open more hours than the smaller
stores] here in Chicago area.

Responsible employees that do not even care that much for ferrets keep the
babies alive at some stores by bringing them home at night to syringe feed.
Nice people at a Petco in Niles Ill. will tell you about their little guys
from MF that do not have eyes open. (Although they may have them open
now.) Go in and look at paperwork that MF gives with each batch of ferts.

Someone wrote to me that life has lots of evil things going on, and the
early selling of a hundred or a thousand ferrets in the country each year
is meaningless when looking at the big picture. I see the point. But when
all the little important things--being polite, brushing our teeth, doing
our best, caring about the homeless, feeding and finding homes for
abandoned animals---

When all these things add up-and each one can be considered meaningless in
the big picture-even basic common decency losses meaning.
