Some of you may have followed the saga of Petey, our little one that started
having adrenal problems at 3 1/2, had left removed and then showed symptoms
shortly after (urinary blockage) and was put on Lysodren, then a couple
months ago had the right debulked. Petey became incontinent after the
second surgery and never acted normal. A week ago Sunday Petey went into a
coma. When he started seizing every 10 minutes, I made the decision to let
him go. Nancy and I took him to the vet and helped him leave. When the vet
gave him the sedative he finally relaxed and stopped seizing. Ten minutes
later we let him go peacefully. Petey was almost 6 yrs old.

Speedy was our old girl, 7 yrs, that had what I first thought was a back
injury (which wasn't). After several vet visits, tests, and the Tenn
Adrenal Panel (normal) and no other option I requested exploratory surgery.
Our vet found her left adrenal enlarged and both kidneys were bad. Doc
gave 6 cc's of his life saving blood to help Speedy through surgery. Speedy
came through surgery but her prognosis was not good. Larry (our vet) was
surprised she made it through the night. Well Speedy continued to improve.
She was able to walk again and climb in and out of sleeping places and
cages. Sunday afternoon I took her outside to walk in the grass of our
back yard. She followed the dogs around the yard, stopping every so often
to make sure I was there too. She was bright eyed and alert. She ate a
good supper and late night snack. Monday morning she seemed fine but when
I got home Monday night she crawled out to great me. I picked her up and
sat her on her feet to see if she could walk and she fell over. I took her
to the kitchen and tried Karo syrup. Seconds later she fell unconscious.
Speedy left us at 9:30 last night.

Speedy was a trooper. She lived months longer than her prognosis and they
were upward months. She grew strong and she was happy, well cared for and
loved. Many evenings Nancy would hold Speedy and many nights Speedy slept
beside me.

Hugs to all. tle
