I think this is basically a good idea. However, I also feel that if I can
find a way to travel to a person's house daily for two weeks to care for
TEN ferrets, they can *somehow* find a way to make *one* little phone call
(or email) to the shelter to arrange pickup of the food donation they owe
in return. For them to "just forget about it" (particularly after I
emailed them several times to remind them) is just sleazy, as far as I'm
concerned.

On another note, here's a Paddington Bear story for all of you. I've been
taking Paddington on "walks" with me in town recently, since the weather
has been getting warmer. Calling it a "walk" is sort of a misnomer; I put
on my ferret snuggly, and he rides in it 90% of the time, and "walks" on
the leash the other 10% of the time.

Anyway, he's pretty good on the leash, but he has a disconcerting tendency
to turn around in midstride and just start walking the other direction.
So, I started reaching down and saying, "No, Paddington, we're going THIS
way", and turning him around.

The little trickster caught onto this after about the fourth time I did it,
and instead of turning around, he would just stop, and then start walking
backwards, while still facing forwards. So, there I would be walking one
way, and my ferret on the end of the leash was facing the same direction,
but was busy walking backwards in the opposite direction. Boy, did WE get
some funny looks! Fuzzbutts ... gotta love 'em!
