I believe Sherpa makes a very nice version of these.  You can always carry
a small water bottle on the plane with you to hold through the mesh so the
fuzzy can drink.  I also sat next to someone on a plane once with a small
dog in a soft carrier (VERY small dog :-)
 
A tiny plastic bottle, good for short trips, can be ordered from
