With everything that has been going on with the NJ rescues and preparing
for the "millennium blizzard", I've been remiss. I haven't posted about
my new addition.

As you saw from Kim's recent post, I went to Kista on Wednesday with my
MetroFerret colleagues to delivery supplies and help clean cages. I NEVER
expected to come home with a ferret -- How many times have we heard THAT
before ;-) We were literally on our way out when Kim took Stanley out of
his cage and handed him to Patty. I swear he was staring at me. Patty
handed him to me and he kissed my face! Now I have read the stories
before - where the ferret picked you.. I am a believer.

I had read Stanley's profile earlier in the fall when doing an education
day at PetCo. His story struck me. Maybe because Stanley was the name of
my first pet. A gerbil when I was 6 years old. Maybe because of his sad
face. Even with all that, I never thought I would be bringing him home.

Once I held him and he kissed me, I told Kim, "I'll take him home". She
walked away. I thought maybe she wasn't taking me seriously. It turned
out that she went to go get the paperwork! While she was filling out the
paperwork he was kissing me all over. I have to guess that he was well
trained because he hasn't kissed me since he's come home!

He's a big guy - 4 1/2 pounds. It will be interesting to make the trip to
the vet with all four. Stanley ways almost as much as Katie Matt, & Al
combined!

Right now he's in his own cage in the kitchen. Over the past two days he
seems to have more and more energy to run around the kitchen, dooking and
poofing. Yes, believe it or not Miss Anal Retentive brought home a
non-descented ferret! He's been 100% in the litter box, eating well and
goes back in the cage and curls up in his hammock when he's had enough
playtime. I'd have to say he's settled in well. The next big trauma will
be the intros to his soon to be "roommates".

I threw together a quick web site so I could show him off along with photos
of the existing gang at http://home.ix.netcom.com/~kkohrs/index.html
I hope Kim doesn't mind that I borrowed the photos from her web site. I
took a whole roll of shots myself but they are yet to be developed.
