Hi Mark, et.al.;
 
I'd reserve surgery for the last measure on a spinal injury.  As with
people, methods to encourage healing is a far better way to go..  My first
route would be to find a holistic vet who offers accupuncture, and
supportive modalities.  Here's a referrel source you might use to find
someone in your area who could help:
