For those of you who asked for an update on my ferret who was showing some
signs of possible insulinoma or kidney disease...I got the tests back today
for my ferret Guida. She is 7 1/2 years old and has adrenal disease. She
has been showing signs of hind end weakness, and had an enlarged kidney
when I took her to the vet Saturday. Well, surprise, surprise, all of her
tests results have come back normal, except for an elevated white blood
cell count. I am going to give her amoxi drops for 2 weeks and then have
her retested. Hopefully it is nothing serious, obviously if there is not
an improvement after the antibiotics there could very well be. So I am
cautiously optimistic. Dr. Weiss said she seems like a good candidate for
adrenal surgery, so if all goes well, she should be getting that in the
next month or two as well. I really thought this was the end...these
little animals are so odd and amazing. I am sure she will be relieved,
as I have not left her alone at all in the past few days and moved her cage
to my bedroom (which now smells very ferrety) to keep a better eye on her.

Does anyone else have a ferret as old as mine who has gone through
cryosurgery? If so, I'd like to hear from you.

Love & best wishes to the fuzzies!
