This just doesn't make sense. Going to college doesn't mean you have to
give up your pets. Shoot, I had pets (cats; I hadn't discovered ferrets
yet) in college as I'm sure many others here did. I had my cats through
several chaotic years afterwards, too (and still do). I have even moved
with fish. (THERE's an adventure.) If you're committed to your pets it
shouldn't make one bit of difference. This is similar to assuming that
all young people are irresponsible - I don't believe that one either. We
have to take people and their circumstances as individuals, not according
to some blanket classifications.

Yes, Valerie did say that leaving the three where they are would be the
best for them, but she didn't say she wouldn't be around for them. After
all, she does still have Noodles.

I respect Valerie's decision and think she did a good thing. I never
said she *should* ask for the ferrets back, only that she had the right
to ask if she chose to do so.

Personally, I'm glad I and others have the ability to make our own
decisions and to change our minds as circumstances change or new facts
arise. It would be a hell of a world if every decision was as final
as Valerie's was supposed to be.
