Received two replies today:
Thomas C. McChesney, DVM, Health Veterinarian, Department of Epidemiology,
Arkansas Department of Health, 4815 West Markham Street, Little Rock,
Arkansas 72205-3867, 501-661-2000 or 2597; excerpts:

"Upon receipt of the 1998 Rabies Compendium, we instituted the 10-day
quarantine and recognized the federally approved vaccine for ferrets. It
will be an amendment to the Rabies Control Act II of 1968 when the
Legislature meets in February, 1998."

The replies from Guam (one from the Health Department and one from the
Lieutenant Governor which was identical) basically mentioned that right now
ferrets are not permitted on Guam since it is rabies-free and that it has a
strict entry quarantine for cats and dogs coming into Guam, but it DID
include the address of the Department of Agriculture to contact with further
information, and my impression is that COPIES OF THE '98 COMPENDIUM should
go to Dennis Rodriguez, Director of the Department of Public Health and
Social Services (Dipattamenton Salut Pupbleko Yan Setbision Susiat, Post
Office Box 2816, Agana, Guam 96932, 671-735-7211/254 and to the Director of
the Department of Agriculture (Name was not given.), 192 Dairy Road,
Mangilao, GU 96923 so that they may consider possibly having a similar entry
quarantine for ferrets if they judge this feasible.

I am hoping that Bob Church might also be willing to write to them and to
provide them with ecological information in relation to ferrets.

It's 60 cents per ounce to send mail there.
