Hi Alexandra,

The cost to spay/neuter a ferret differs substantially between vets.
To answer that question, you'd have to check with your, ferret
knowledgeable, vet. Here, in the Richmond and surrounding areas of Va.,
the costs range from $50.00 to $135.00 per ferret. As you can see that
is quite a big difference.

The questions are, how knowledgeable is your vet? How many
spay/neuters, on ferrets, has he/she done? Also, if you get multiple
ferrets, how far away is the vet? How many can be done in one day?
There is a lot to take into consideration.

One bit of advise for all though, if the vet tells you "no food or
water for 12 hours before surgery" (like a cat or dog), that is NOT
correct. Ferrets digestive systems are so fast everything passes
through in approximately 3 hours. Our vet has agreed to 5 hours of
fasting and not withholding water at all.

Hope this helps.
