My first, hit the floor running/learning, ferret was a D.E.W. that was
deaf, but show quality. She had been hit, kicked and was going to be
dumped in the woods, because the people who had her didn't want her
around their child ("Jaws" alias Dolly, had been bought for a relative
and no one wanted her.). I had a ferret knowledgeable person (he helped
start Washington State Ferret Rescue) tell me she was deaf and it would
take 1-2 years to gain her trust. 7 months later she was weasel war
dancing and dancing and letting me cuddle her and kiss her...WOW.

Bandit (original name....hubby named him) I got from a dear friend who
raises "Gifers"...giant ferrets (5-8 lbs) and he's about 4 1/2 lbs
now....He's so special....I'm definitely his lady. He gets jealous when
another of his cage mates play with me.....he says..."my turn, my turn"
and jumps on me. (MINE)

Siloh & Smokey and CB (Chicken Butt or Crystal's baby) also came from my
friend and they are so loved.(MINE)

Teddy Bears I got from the pet store I worked at. He's cute as a button
and quite the momma's boy.(MINE

Ethey Nippers and Lucy Goosey were abandoned in front of the pet store
where I worked.

Rosie, a D.E.W. (deaf), came to the pet store because a teenager just
didn't have time for her.

Farley girl came in because a teenager didn't understand why her male was
so aggressive and hurting her.....she came in without food and she didn't
know what the name of the cat food was. Farley almost died and boy, do
both of you form a deep bond when you are able to pull them out of deaths
jaws. (MINE)

Champagne came in with a buddy, I think because the guy knew something
was wrong with him. I took him into the vet and he had insulinoma......
1 year later he's still doing great. Will live out his life at Denise's
Delightful Dookers.

Baby Doll was brought in to the pet store where I worked because (at 21)
the gal's mom said she couldn't keep her......reality check....Baby doll
had very little hair and her vulva was swollen. She had been in season
for quite some time. My friend put her with a vascetomized male ferret
and her vulva went down and 3 months later had hair. She went into the
vet, had surgery thinking it was adrenal, however, it was a regenerated
ovary. She's doing so well and she's the "alpha" of the 12.

Angie-deaf-found running thru a families back yard

Buddy, Ruthie, Ruby came from a person who's hours changed and couldn't
keep them.

Spanky came from a college student with no time for him.

Jessee ran into a slavic families home and they brought him into the pet
store. He came close to needing a blood transfusion he was in such bad
shape.

Lucas-owner had no time for him.

Rufus--teenager who had no time. He came in with Wimbleton who was
aggressive toward Rufus and Rufus came with ulcers and the gal had not
finished giving him his medicine.....He got meds and is doing great.

Josie--father surrendered her because his son (11) didn't have time for
her.

Hoss and Cindy -- owner couldn't take care of them. Cindy had cancer
when she came to me and I found out too late. She died, and Hoss is
blind and doing well and will stay at Denise's Delightful Dookers).

Tyson-was rescued by one of my ferret parents from a cage that was
outside...it was filthy and the kids would go by and bang on the cage...
they wouldn't get them out except when friends were over. Tyson would
bite so I got him. He bit through my nose, thus the name Tyson.

Griffin-teenage owner (who had Farley) didn't have the time or $ for him.

Sammee-was the Pet shop owners ferret and she had him in the shop...I had
him over for a "ferret sleepover" and he stayed.

Gypsy Lee - owner moved to smaller housing.

Bear, Bandit, Bella - owners moved, gave to another couple and they
couldn't keep them.

Sadie, Percy, Sam--owners were moving, no time.

Nicholas, Noel, Mischief & Oscar--owner going to school and working 2
jobs, living at home, the mom raises dachsunds....said..they're gone.

Dory--given to friends who lost their ferret and didn't want to keep
Dory.

Unnamed--15 weeks old...Petco called 12/13/05...he kept biting people...
he's just fearful...is doing well at the rescue.

Well, That's 38. I have Denise's Delightful Dooker Ferret Rescue in
Auburn, Washington. Thanks to "Jaws" (alias Dolly) the ferrets have
their own room.....(our small garage made into a room fit for kings and
queens). I have seen such a high count of surrenders in the last 4
months...whew....I just pray I have a high count of people who want to
be ferret parents. I do love 'em all and sometimes it's hard to see
them go to someone else...however, they need more one on one and people
need to love them.
