Sherri, I used to live five walking minutes from the beach (now it's 45-60
driving minutes, sigh :(...) and the ferrets visited there several times.
They dug into the sand and loved tunneling all over.  They never got sick
from any beach visit.  Of course, this is only my experience and I did not
witness any sand ingestion just some stuck to their noses.
