Derek had his post-operation checkup yesterday after his spleen removal
on the 8th of July.  His stitches were removed and he's back with his
cagemate, Layla, once again.
 
The vet was amazed that he's gained back 200 grams (nearly half a pound) in
about ten days!  He said the spleen was apparently putting so much pressure
on Derek's intestines and other organs that he simply couldn't eat that
well.  Now, you can't hold him back!
 
So, it appears that Dr. Dahlhausen has really put Derek back in shape.
Needless to say, it's great to see him running around once again with his
"new" hunched back after his huge spleen's weight was removed.
 
Thank you, everyone, for all the wonderful notes of encouragement.  Derek
sends his dooks as well.
