Hi everyone!
We have a 10-month old ferret named Misha whom I bought for my fiancee,
Scott for Christmas. Neither of us have ever owned a ferret before, so
we were in for some surprises. Most of them were wonderful surprises.
I already had a cat named Jolie that I have had for 9 years. Long story
there, but suffice it to say she had a rough time before we rescued her.
Jolie isn't a fan of anyone else except me and Scott. I love her as I
would my child and I think she's great. When we got Misha Jolie wasn't
pleased. She doesn't like sharing or anyone else coming into her world.
But, she's coping well now. They play together very infrequently and we
have to keep an eye on them as Jolie is pretty darn big (okay, she's too
big) and Misha only weighs 2 pounds. So that situation is okay.

Long story here too, but last week Misha was attacked by a BIG dog we
were caring for temporarily. We had attempted to keep everyone, dog,
puppies, Misha and Jolie separated, but a stupid accident occurred and
Misha was scooped up into this dog's mouth and thankfully, Scott was
right there and as soon as the dog got her he ran up to her and the dog
dropped her. I was in the basement when it happened and I have never
heard such horrid screaming in my life and I hope to Never again! Then
Misha ran and hid in the stove which we had to slightly dismantle to get
her out because we didn't know what kind of injuries she had. After
about 45 minutes we got her out and she had no external injuries, thank
goodness, but I was very concerned about internal injuries. So we took
her to the vet hospital, it was later in the day on a Saturday, and sure
enough she had a collapsed lung. So they kept her overnight and she was
doing okay the next day and we took her home and she is fine now, over a
week later. Thank God.

Now we have Rocket. A mix of Alaskan Malamute, Hound, Lab and who knows
what else. She is just a baby yet, about 6 weeks old and Misha is
terrified of her as you can imagine. Misha smells dog and she is outta
here. She was pretty traumatized after the dog incident, she would shake
when she left our bedroom or left us but she will venture out if Rocket
is outside or sleeping.

Jolie hisses and swats Rocket if she comes too close so I don't worry
about her. Jolie will be in the same room with Rocket also.

So my question is if anyone has any advice on how to make this easier for
Misha especially, but also all concerned.

I apparently missed some of the beagle controversy and I am not looking
to start a new one just wanted some helpful advice!!

Thanks in advance,
Lisa, Scott, Jolie, Misha and Rocket
