Kathy's message "Pedialyte Kills!!!!" seemed startling, so I got out my
reserve (meaning unopened) bottle of "house brand" electrolyte solution. I
wondered what could cause someone to mistake it for a sustaining substance.
Well, for openers, it says "Oral Maintenance Solution", right on the front.
The word maintenance, to me, indicates it will maintain you, as in supply
you with nutrients. Now I know it won't, as I read labels carefully.
Water, dextrose, fructose - those are what pass for nutrients.

Kathy is right, we need to be very careful when recommending it, to state
it is a substitute for water, not a substitute for food. And by the way,
everyone PLEASE look at the bottles you have, and each bottle you buy. The
"real" Pedialyte is available with aspertame as the sweetener, and everyone
should know that aspertame will kill any thing - which is why I have a
"house brand", it was the only one with real sugars.

Georgia - the left coast one...
