Re: Dayna Frazier

Dayna Frazier, a legend in the Southern California underground ferret scene,
is being forced to relocate. She is losing her home, has lost her job, and
is in poor health. The lady she was caretaker for is elderly and being
moved into a nursing home. The family asks that Dayna leave.

Dayna has been there for critters of all sorts, day or night, in dangerous
situations, at her own expense, for years. She has done without so her
charges could receive care. She has paid vet bills for people who couldn't
or wouldn't care for their own ferrets. She has participated in numerous
California groups, always there, always supportive. Due to her home
situation and ill (but recoverable) health, she hasn't been very active on
the FML the past year, but I'm sure anyone who has been on here for over a
year remembers her. Her stories, poems, advice and spirit has been part of
making the FML what it is today.

A few friends of Dayna is helping her make her move. This move, naturally,
is upsetting to her, she's leaving familiar ground, going into an unknown
future, without knowing where her final destination will be.

Dayna does have a small support network outside California, but the network
we expected her to have in California has been noticably absent. I am
disappointed that so few Californians have stepped forward to help her, even
if they are losing her. And they are losing her. She has paid dearly to
help every living creature, human and otherwise, when called on. I don't
think their loss will be apparent until she is gone, and someone needs
emergency help, advice, care, or rescue of their beloved critter.

Yes, most of the people she has helped weren't FML'ers, but some few were.
If you are one of those she helped, remember how you felt to know she was
there, ready to assist in any way she could. If you've never needed her
help, give silent thanks, and help her, now that she is the one needing it.
Think how she feels, knowing when she finally needs help, to be failed.

Next Monday, Dayna and Jim March will be loading her life onto a rental
truck and she will be going off into an unclear future. Her whole life has
been reduced to a pitifully small stack of boxes and possessions. Can you
help with the loading? They need help, as they have been struggling, alone
for a week and a half, in heat and sickness, to get her ready to move.

Please, will you who are available at 12 noon Monday, June 30th, help her
out? She's given so much to all of you, can't some few give something back?

Harold and Diana Way

p.s. Dayna will be relocating to East Tennessee. This is a free ferret
state, where she can enjoy the joy of ferrets, without the fear of losing
those dearest to her. Her future from there is unknown, but to be sure, it
will be interesting. Whichever area she does choose will be blessed, we are
sure of that.
