On December 20th the FML will reach its 20th anniversary.

Chris Lewis, in Canada, who began the FML when the earliest ferret
internet people were being harassed stayed only a short amount of
the FML's life. During early years Bill Gruber provided the original
anonymous option for those who lived in FFZs (which were pretty common
back then when Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, (Did IL also ban them
back then? I can't recall and am trying to recall states beyond the
three Ms.), many counties and many cities banned ferrets. Now there
are just a few such locations: California, Hawaii, New York CITY.
Washington DC, and some other places. Does St. Paul still ban them?
