Before I do the update on Bailey I want to extend my sincere condolences
to all who ve posted lately and lost their beloved fur kids. It breaks my
heart, and I just haven t been able to send a message to each and every one
of you. Know that your babies watch over you, and some day you ll all be
together at the Bridge.

Last week I asked for good thoughts and prayers for Bailey on this
exploratory surgery. I didn t know if it was an incomplete spay or
possible adrenal. Well, she went into surgery this morning by 7:00am.
At 8:15 am Dr. Kubisz had called to let me know. She has a complete spay,
no adrenal. He said that her stomach seemed inflamed, as though from an
allergy, her spleen is larger than normal, her liver smaller than average.
He s stumped, but said it still might be an odd allergy, a thyroid or
pituitary problem. He s amazed by the Bailey Bop! He said she s quite the
girl, and she was coming around even then.

I got to pick her up today at 2:00pm. He had her bandaged in a sort of ACE
bandage, purple (ah, the color of royalty) from her shoulders to her hips.
She saw me and started wiggling like a caterpillar, and before we knew it
she was out of the bandage! She was bleeding somewhat and after I got back
to work I got some gauze and tried to rebandage her. Yeah, right. She was
wriggling and running her little mouth over my hands and fingers like she
was telling me no way lady. So I quit trying. Dr. K. said no fluids or
food tonight till tomorrow morning, and I told him I was worried about
dehydration. He said he d given fluids. I remember when they did my disk
fusion and had to go through my abdomen. I wasn t allowed fluids or food
for 24 hours either as everything had to move back, and he said that s
what s going on with Bailey. She s here in the living room asleep in the
carrier. I m going to pad it tomorrow so it s really soft and take her to
work with me. I ve got the duck soup recipe in the freezer, ready to go
(thank you Troy Lynn) and the water bottle to attach to her carrier.

I can t thank all who ve written me to wish me luck, the bestest people in
the world-Randy, Helga, Troy Lynn, Joanie, Judy, Jeanne, Cathie, Sonya,
Mandy, Lil Resa, Polly, Erin & her mom, the list could go on. Thank you
all, and Bailey thanks you too.
