Household tip (well, for ferret households, anyway):
 
There's a very easy way to grind kibbles *instantly* when making mush for
sick ferrets.  Just use a small electric coffee mill, such as a Krups mill.
If you use yours for coffee, don't buy a new one!  Just clean it out in the
following manner: Put 2 tablespoons of rice in the mill, grind the rice to
flour, dump it out, repeat.  The mill is now coffee-free, and can be used
to grind ferret kibbles.  After the kibbles are ground, clean it out twice
by grinding rice, and it's ready for coffee.  Voila!
