I sent this to the FHL today and realized that I hadn't cc'd to FML...
and while this DOES relate to ferret health, it also has to go out to
ALL nets...so before you continue...forward this to anyone you know in
California! P

Since domestic ferrets are still illegal in California, many owners are
hesitant to seek the services of a vet when their pet/s takes ill. This
undoubtedly results in elevated mortality rates as compared to states
where vets legally and "openly" work on df's. Voters in California have
a HUGE chance to make a very high level inroad to the ferret legalization
process. The Libertarian candidate for Lt. Governor (that's pretty far
up on the "food chain") is Patt Wright, a name that should be familiar to
ferret owners everywhere. The founder of Ferrets Anonymous and strong
legalization advocate is running for Lt. Gov. on the ferret legalization
platform...there on the ballot, under his name you can clearly see the
word "ferret"! Imagine...the buzz word "ferret" is on the California
State Election Ballot this year. I suggest that residents of California,
regardless of your political affiliation, break lines for this particular
vote. Ferret legalization advocates recently sent a petition to Gov.
Davis that had over 40,000 signatures...more signatures than the energy
"crisis" relief petition collected! It was ignored at best. If there
are truly 500,000-1,000,000 pet domestic ferrets residing in California
(remember...20% of all ferret food sold in the U.S. is sold in
California!), then there is a tremendous voter voice out there to be
heard.

If Mr. Wright wins, he will make certain that the ferret legalization
agenda receives top priority...from inside the new administration...and
boy, it's about time. All the legal and legislative efforts to date have
failed to accomplish the stated goal. Here is your chance...as dedicated
pet owners in California...to truly make a difference this time. Think
it over...and tell your friends, relatives etc. And get out there and
VOTE on November 5th!!!
