Ferrets can not only get the flu, they can die from it.
 
Truffle came down with the flu on the Wednesday and was taken to the vet
who said there was nothing in his chest and gave him some antibiotics just
in case.  Told us to keep him warm etc (this was in the middle of summer).
By the Sunday night he was dead from pneumonia.
