hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I believe in the cause
That's why I'm here
I'll give precious hours of tiime
without question, sweat physically if needed,
shed tears over group and individual
tragedies and cheer just as loudly for successes.....
I'll donate a piece of myself to you
and a big part of my life.
All I ask in return are four heartfelt
words....."Thank You...Good Job"... that
are meant and not just mouthed for the
sake of appearance

I've heard it said by an "administrator" of a non-profit group that
volunteering is a thankless job... and yet so many of the organizations
and shelters who post here exist only through the efforts of volunteers.
Having just recently gone through a hideous experience volunteering, I
just have one piece of advice for what its worth to those who are "in
charge".... volunteering IS a job that needs thanks and appreciation....
that's the payoff... the satisfaction of a job well done and knowing
that its appreciated. Sometimes the acknowledgement comes too little,
too late, or not at all and that can and will kill a volunteer's drive
faster than you can say "can someone help with this?"

Treat 'em like gold if you have 'em
